Description:

Results of analyses of data for two urban sites and a rural site suggest that the mixing length can be represented by the integral length scale of the turbulence derived from vertical velocity spectra. The result is apparently universal and permits the shear production of turbulent kinetic energy to be estimated by measurements at a single level within the surface boundary layer.
