Sudell, G. APPLICATIONS ANALYSIS REPORT: ECO LOGIC INTERNATIONAL GAS-PHASE CHEMICAL REDUCTION PROCESS - THE REACTOR SYSTEM. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/540/AR-93/522.

Description:

This report details the Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation of Eco Logic International's gas-phase chemical reduction process, with an emphasis on their Reactor System. he Eco Logic process employees a high temperature reactor filled with hydrogen gas as the means to destroy chlorinated organic wastes, such as PCBS. he process is designed around a reduction reaction, which reduces the organic wastes into a high-BTU gas product. he unit is transportable, sitting on two flat-bed trailers. he demonstration program was conducted at the Middleground Island Landfill in Bay City, Michigan during October to December, 1992. he demonstration program examined the ability of the unit to process two waste stream, an aqueous waste stream containing an average of 3,757 ppm of PCBs and a waste oil containing 25.4% PCBS. he demonstration program showed that the unit achieved a Destruction and Removal Efficiency (DRE) of at least 99.9999% for PCBS. he report provides details of the test program, summaries of analytical tests conducted a variety of process streams, process economics, and case study information.
