This publication reports on the results of the NATO/CCMS Pilot Study "Demonstration of Remedial Action Technologies for Contaminated Land and Ground Water" which was conducted from 1986 through 1991. he Pilot Study was designed to identify and evaluate innovative, emerging and alternative remediation technologies and to transfer technical performance and economic information on them to potential users. wenty-nine remediation technology projects were examined which treat, recycle, separate or concentrate contaminants in soil, sludges, and ground water. echnologies included are: thermal, stabilization/solidification, soil vapor extraction, physical/chemical extraction, pump and treat ground water, chemical treatment of contaminated soils, and microbial treatment. olume 2, Appendices, Part 1 contains overviews of national environmental regulations and guest speaker's presentations.
