Description:
The report gives results of a comprehensive, pilot, dry, SO2 scrubbing test program to determine the effects of process variables on SO2 removal. In the spray dryer, stoichiometric ratio, flue gas temperature approach to adiabatic saturation, and temperature drop across the spray dryer significantly affected SO2 removal. In the fabric filter, stoichiometric ratio and temperature approach to adiabatic saturation controlled SO2 removal. Recycling FGD/fly ash product solids enhanced SO2 removal over that of lime-only once-through operation. The technoeconomic evaluation, based on test results, showed that a dry SO2 scrubbing system is economical compared to limestone wet FGD/particulate control systems for coal levels up to about 1.5-1.8 wt %.
