Description:

The removal of typical metals (Cu, Pb, Sn, Ni) from printed circuit and metal finishing waste streams was evaluated using displacement with aluminum. he metal is recovered as non-hazardous metal particles and can be recycled by smelting. n acceptable aluminum metal configuration was determined for the reactor using circuit board drill entry foil which is a waste product of the printed circuit manufacturing process after hole drilling. igher pH tended to produce high copper removal with the minimum amount of aluminum consumption. etal removal efficiency from eight typical waste streams was determined. ethod of dislodging displaced metals from the aluminum surface and/or reactivating the aluminum surfaces after a period of non-use was developed. roduction size aluminum exchange system was proposed with suggested support equipment and flow rates. his work was performed at the Circuit Chemistry Corporation which is located in Maple Plain, Minnesota. he project period was May 1, 1987 to April 30, 1988.
