Kinman, R., J. Rickabaugh, J. Donnelly, D. Nutini, AND M. Lambert. EVALUATION AND DISPOSAL OF WASTE MATERIALS WITHIN 19 TEST LYSIMETERS AT CENTER HILL. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/2-86/035.

Description:

The report describes the termination of a ten-year experimental landfill co-disposal project. Nineteen simulated landfills were constructed in 1974 and 1975 and operated until September 1983. Data collected during the termination study included observations of overall test cell conditions; chemical analysis of final leachate, refuse and bottom gravel; physical analysis of refuse, gravel, and clay conditions; microbiological analysis of the refuse; and in-place permeability and specific yield of the refuse. Comparisons between municipal refuse-only cells and municipal refuse/industrial sludge co-disposal cells were made in order to evaluate the effect the industrial sludges had on the decomposition process. The work was submitted in fulfillment of Contract 68-03-3210-04 by the University of Cincinnati under sponsorship of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The report covers a period from May 1984 to January 1985 and work was completed as of April 1985.
