Description:

This paper examines temperature and precipitation records from the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) Delta over the past 100 years and explores relationships with other behavior farther afield (regional and global). ignificant cycles of 2-3, 5-6 and 38 years during the last 100 years were identified using digital weather records for the Yangtze River Delta. he occurrence of extreme climate events (i.e. floods and droughts) during the last 100 yr is reported, the relationships between these extreme climate events and the El Nino/Southern Oscillation and Quasi-Biennial Oscillation are explored and the impacts on natural and man-made system are discussed.
