Budde, W. AND J. Munch. METHODS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS IN DRINKING WATER - SUPPLEMENT III. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/R-95/131 (NTIS PB95261616).

Description:

Fifteen analytical methods for organic compounds in drinking water are documented in detail. ost of these methods were published as prior versions in other methods manuals in this series. he versions in Supplement III provide corrections, minor technical enhancements, and editorial improvements to the previously published analytical methods. everal previously distributed but not formally published methods are also included. ourteen of the fifteen methods utilize high resolution gas chromatography (GC) for separation of analytes from each other and from other substances in the water sample. ne method employs high performance reverse phase liquid chromatography for the separation. wo methods utilize a mass spectrometer for the unambiguous identification and measurement of the compounds separated by high resolution GC. These two methods are extremely versatile and have been single-laboratory validated for a total of 194 individual compounds and 8 commercial product mixtures. ost methods have also been multi-laboratory validated although not all possible analytes have been included in these studies. ssentially all of the major chlorine disinfection by-products that have been identified in drinking water are included in the methods in this manual.
