WATERSHEDS & SUB-WATERSHEDS, WADNR WATERSHED ASSESS. UNITS (WAUS)

Description:

The USGS-produced Hydrologic Unit Maps offer 4th-field Cataloging Units (HUCs) as the smallest basin delineations. Also known as sub-basins, these areas are generally larger than 1800 sq. Km. The Eastside coverage offers sub-divisions two levels smaller than the USGS sub-basins for the areas encompassed by the Eastside Ecosystem Mgt. Project. The first level represents watersheds, with an average area of 240 sq. Km. The second level represents sub-watersheds, with an avg. area of 80 sq. Km. These areas were delineated for the purpose of the Eastside Eco. Project vegetation sample. The W. OR watershed (5th-code HUC) layer nests within the USGS HUCs & is edge-matched to the Eastside 5/6th-code layer at the Cascade Crest. Lines are from 1:24,000 scale maps W. of the Cascades. Also included are the Eastside 5th-code data E. of the Cascades. Scale: From 1:100,000 scale maps east of Cascades, mostly from 1:24,000 scale maps in OR west of the Cascades. WDNR WAUs from 1:100,000 scale maps. Extent: Subwatersheds (6th-code HUCs): ID, OR & WA EAST of Cascades. Watersheds (5th-code HUCs): Oregon, west of Cascades. WAUs: WA, except for most of SE third of state. Source: USFS/BLM/States. Major Attributes: 12 digit subwatershed code, Sub-basin name from river reach files, 8-digit Sub-basin (cataloging unit) code of HUC6,10-digit watershed portion of HUC6, watershed identifier without HUC4,sub-watershed identifier without HUC5. Projection: R10 Albers.
