Description:

Groundwater contamination by organic compounds results from two mechanisms: igration of the free product (phase flow) and migration of dissolved components in the water (species transport). umerical simulation is computationally intensive involving the iterative simultaneous solution of coupled nonlinear differential equations over fine time and space discretizations. fficient parallel computations can be used when an alternating direction solution scheme is employed. his paper describes a highly efficient collocation based alternating direction algorithm which relies on matrix factorization to achieve spatial decoupling.
