IMPLEMENTATION OF SEQUENCING BATCH REACTORS FOR MUNICIPAL TREATMENT

Citation:

Barth, E. IMPLEMENTATION OF SEQUENCING BATCH REACTORS FOR MUNICIPAL TREATMENT. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/D-84/022 (NTIS PB84130400).

Description:

Sequencing batch reactor technology is being implemented at various municipal sites in both the United States and abroad. Total life cycle cost savings, ease of operation, and reliability favor this technology at facilities sized up to 19,000 cu m per day (5 mgd). Batch treatment has inherent advantages over continuous processes in many applications. Current research investigations on sequencing batch reactors concern controlling sludge settleability, nitrification, denitrification, and biological phosphorus removal.
