Description:

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Framework Water Resources Planning Model developed and tested under this study is a comprehensive analytical tool for use in areawide water resources management planning. The physical simulation portion was formed by linking component computer models which test alternative future community development patterns by small area, estimate water demands by usage categories, calculate sewage flows based on water demands and add infiltration/inflow, simulate stormwater runoff, test application of alternative waste treatment management systems, and simulate the quality response of the region's major water body. The impact assessment portion of the Framework Model includes methodologies for assessing the fiscal, social, and environmental impacts of alternatives.
