GUIDELINE FOR FLUID MODELING OF ATMOSPHERIC DIFFUSION

Citation:

Snyder, W. GUIDELINE FOR FLUID MODELING OF ATMOSPHERIC DIFFUSION. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/8-81/009 (NTIS PB81201410).

Description:

The fundamental principles for fluid modeling of flow and dispersion of pollutants in the atmospheric boundary layer are reviewed. The usefulness of fluid models are evaluated from both scientific and engineering viewpoints. Because many detailed decisions must be made during the design and execution of each model study, and because the fundamental principles frequently do not provide enough guidance, extensive discussion of the details of the most common types of modeling problems are provided. The hardware requirements are also discussed. This guideline is intended to be of use both to scientists and engineers involved in operating fluid modeling facilities and to air pollution control officials in evaluating the quality and credibility of the reports from such studies.
