Description:

This paper addresses the graphical representation of distributional summaries. he graphical design goal is to produce small-summary plots that are suitable as map legends for Choropleth maps. he paper proposes two variations of parallel coordinate plots for epresenting cumulative distributions. he first variation shows the cumulative distribution and represents the distribution density using color. he second variation shows class colors and adds distribution detail with class boundaries, which is suitable as a map legend. he paper provides examples of the plot used as a legend in Choropleth maps of acid deposition and colon cancer mortality.
