Interest is growing in the international community for a world treaty or protocol on forest management and protection. orld leaders have become increasingly aware of the relationship between sustainable forest resources and healthy social, economic, and environmental conditions in all nations. s a result, international discussions toward a global forest agreement (GFA) are underway with the impetus stemming from a number of significant conditions related to global forests. his paper briefly reviews the status of the GFA and suggests an approach for expanding programs within forested nations to contribute to global forest management goals.
