Using BCG as a framework for setting goals and communicating progress toward those goals
Citation:
Cicchetti, G. Using BCG as a framework for setting goals and communicating progress toward those goals. 2017 National Estuary Program Fall Tech Transfer Meeting, Boston, MA, November 03 - 04, 2017.
Impact/Purpose:
The Biological Condition Gradient (BCG) is a framework to evaluate overall condition of the estuary, compare condition across time and space, set goals and targets, develop actions, monitor progress towards goals, and communicate with the public. This presentation promotes the public target-setting and target-monitoring aspects of the BCG for NEPs in a special session devoted to that issue. NEPs can then use this information to engage the public to set quantitative targets, then monitor and report progress for adaptive management.
Description:
This 5 minute Lightning Talk will discuss the benefits of stakeholder-supported quantitative targets in measuring progress, and will describe the Biological Condition Gradient (BCG) as one way to develop these quantitative targets.
