Impact/Purpose:
This manuscript is significant and relevant because of the current need to address the methamphetamine epidemic and remediation of methamphetamine found in clandestine laboratories. This review is applicable to industry, emergency responders, government agencies, and the general public.
Description:
The purpose of the current literature review was to identify, collect, review, and organize all available information concerning the remediation of methamphetamine found in clandestine laboratories through an analysis of routinely collected data sources. There were numerous peer reviewed journals, electronic databases, websites, and commercial vendors relevant to the remediation process of methamphetamine. Our intention of this review was to serve as background information as well as a reference guide relating to the critical problem of methamphetamine production and remediation internationally in addition to generating future research products associated with the topic. The major discovery from the literature review concluded there has not been a nationally standardized analytical method recognized as a reference guideline for the remediation of methamphetamine in clandestine laboratories.
