Description:
The primary objective of this program was the development of methods for the analysis of priority pollutants in sludge. Independent methods were developed for purgeable and extractable compounds. For purgeables, a purge and trap-GC/MS procedure was developed utilizing a stirred bottom-frit chamber. Recoveries were comparable to the conventional purge tube without excessive foaming. A revised protocol developed for extractable priority pollutants employed homogenization/centrifugation extraction, GPC cleanup and GC/MS detection.
