Impact/Purpose:

This poster will be presented at the upcoming Board of Scientific Councilors' review of EPA ORD's Chemical Safety for Sustainability Program. It will provide an update on efforts to develop high-throughput tools for toxicokinetics that can be used in conjunction with the ToxCast screening data to provide a rapid safety assessment that may aid in setting chemical testing priorities. These tools, along with the ToxCast high-throughput toxicity testing data, provides the US EPA with critical data across thousands of chemicals and greatly facilitates the Agency's mission to protect human health and the environment.

Description:

This poster summarizes efforts of the Chemical Safety for Sustainability's Rapid Exposure and Dosimetry (RED) team to facilitate the development and refinement of toxicokinetics (TK) tools to be used in conjunction with the high throughput toxicity testing data generated as a part of the ToxCast program. This is a multi-year research effort that spans a range of tasks that will provide 1) an open-source platform for high throughput TK analyses; 2) a TK database that contains in vitro and vivo data on a range of TK variables, including in vitro and in vivo TK data, peer-reviewed PBPK models, and relevant models; 3) TK prediction methods; 4) TK evaluation strategies and 5) TK variability assessment tools.
