Heidman, J. TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT OF ANAEROBIC SYSTEMS FOR MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT: 1. ANAEROBIC FLUIDIZED BED. 2. ANFLOW. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/2-82/004 (NTIS PB82229170), 1982.

Description:

This report discusses two developing technologies for the treatment of municipal wastewaters. These technologies are anaerobic fluidized bed systems and an anaerobic fixed-film bioreactor (ANFLOW). The report discusses: available laboratory data on system performance; fluidized bed expansion and voidage-velocity relationships; the influence of bacterial growth on changes in fluidization characteristics; power requirements for fluidization; potential cost and energy savings compared to activated sludge secondary treatment plants; and provides estimates of anaerobic fluidized bed treatment costs.
