Description:

Under the Chesapeake Bay Agreement, Naval Base Norfolk is a member of the Tidewater interagency Pollution Prevention Program (TIPPP). t Norfolk, the Navy and the EPA have evaluated techniques and technologies to reduce waste generation from cooling tower operations. POA was conducted at the Norfolk Naval Air Station in June 1994 which identified areas for waste reduction during operation and maintenance of the NAS cooling towers. he study followed procedures outlined in the EPA's Facility Pollution Prevention Guide. pportunities were identified for reducing the generation of waste from cooling tower water treatment operations. hanges in operational and treatment processes and procedures have been evaluated for their potential to achieve pollution prevention objectives. he options have been studied for technical and economic feasibility, and are summarized in this report.
