Citation:
Loughlin, Dan, Chris Nolte, W. Shi, Y. Ou, S. Smith, AND C. Ledna. The Global Change Assessment Model: A potential component of ABaCAS? Presented at 4th Air Benefit and Cost and Attainment Assessment Conference (ABaCAS 2016), Shanghai, CHINA, June 14 - 16, 2016.
Impact/Purpose:
Present the GCAM Integrated Assessment Model and initiate a discussion of its utility as a component of ABaCAS. ABaCAS is a modeling system that "connects air pollution emissions control and costs with air quality benefits, health and economic impacts, and air quality attainment tests." The ABaCAS system is a joint project between the U.S. EPA and a team of international environmental scientists.
Description:
In this presentation, we discuss the role that Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) may play in developing very different scenarios of the future. We discuss a particular IAM, the Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM) and provide examples of it can be used to develop the types of emission growth and control factors. We present a graphical using interface for GCAM and initiate a discussion of the potential utility of GCAM within the ABaCAS air quality management decision support system.
