Assessing CMAQ's contribution to Ozone and PM 2.5 from Wildland Fire Emissions

Citation:

Pierce, Tom, K. Baker, K. Foley, G. Pouliot, V. Rao, AND A. Rappold. Assessing CMAQ's contribution to Ozone and PM 2.5 from Wildland Fire Emissions. 5th International Fire Behavior and Fuels Conference, Portland, OR, April 12, 2016.

Impact/Purpose:

The National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) Computational Exposure Division (CED) develops and evaluates data, decision-support tools, and models to be applied to media-specific or receptor-specific problem areas. CED uses modeling-based approaches to characterize exposures, evaluate fate and transport, and support environmental diagnostics/forensics with input from multiple data sources. It also develops media- and receptor-specific models, process models, and decision support tools for use both within and outside of EPA.

Description:

This poster to be delivered at the International Association of Wildland Fire Conference highlights modeling efforts that have been made to assess the impact of wildland fires on atmospheric pollution and human health. It points out the need to perform additional evaluation and model development studies using detailed observations to be collected from future planned field studies such as FASMEE, FIREX, and FIREchem
