The report was prepared as part of the Ohio River Basin Energy Study (ORBES), a multidisciplinary policy research program. It reviews the status of the electric utility industry in the six ORBES states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Topics include the investor-owned utilities, publicly-owned utilities and power agencies, rural electric cooperatives, electrical generation systems, electrical generating capacity, comparative financial and operating statistics for investor-owned utilities, and regulation in the electric utility industry.
