Citation:

Mackay, D., P. Roberts, AND J. Cherry. TRANSPORT OF ORGANIC CONTAMINANTS IN GROUNDWATER: DISTRIBUTION AND FATE OF CHEMICALS IN SAND AND GRAVEL AQUIFERS. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C., EPA/600/J-85/339.

Description:

The state-of-knowledge of the physical, chemical, and biological processes that are thought to affect organic contaminants in ground water are reviewed. The discussion is confined to horizontal flow in uniform sand and gravel aquifers. General principles governing contaminant transport are used to illustrate the conceptual complexities of organic chemical transport in ground water. Finally, the implications of ground water contamination are discussed.
