Sensors for High Frequency monitoring of cyanoHABs and cyanotoxin production
Citation:
Allen, Joel. Sensors for High Frequency monitoring of cyanoHABs and cyanotoxin production. To be Presented at Sensor Community Retreat, cincinnati, Oh, January 08, 2016.
Impact/Purpose:
Present current approaches to monitoring of HABs and promote discussion of technology innovation. From the invitation: The goal of this retreat is to establish a Sensor Community by identifying organizations and scientists in this region who are interested in the general area of sensors. The purpose of the Sensor Community is to enhance our ability to do research in sensors by facilitating collaborations among interested parties. Registration is now over 100 people, which confirms the strong interest in sensors at the University of Cincinnati and in the surrounding region.
Description:
The use of sensors in environmental monitoring is an area of constant evolution. As monitoring needs present themselves, technology development follows. Here, the use of high frequency data to monitor and predict HABs is presented illustrating the successful use of technology and highlighting areas of need.
