Description:

An investigation into the ability of strains defective in biphenyl metabolism to degrade PCBS, strongly suggests that the same enzymes are used for both substrates. he genes encoding these enzymes have been isolated and are being characterized. he ability of cell-free extracts of P. putida LB400 to degrade PCBs has been examined. esults indicate that the enzymes for PCB metabolism are present in the soluble portion of the extract.
