NMR-based Metabolomics Applications in Biological and Environmental Science

Citation:

Teng, Q. NMR-based Metabolomics Applications in Biological and Environmental Science. Presented at Center for Structural Biology at the University of Illinois, Chicago, Chicago, IL, February 24 - 26, 2015.

Impact/Purpose:

Invited presentation at the Center for Structural Biology at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Description:

As a complimentary tool to other omics platforms, metabolomics is increasingly being used bybiologists to study the dynamic response of biological systems (cells, tissues, or wholeorganisms) under diverse physiological or pathological conditions. Metabolomics deals with the qualitative and quantitative profiling of metabolites or small molecules produced during cellular processes. This technology has found applications in numerous areas of medical, chemical, environmental, pharmaceutical, and biological sciences. In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to NMR spectroscopy and metabolomics, and discuss recent results of ourbiological and environmental research.
