Impact/Purpose:

Poster presented at the 2015 Society of Toxicology Meeting in San Diego, CA.

Description:

To better understand the mode of action of atrazine in amphibians, we utilized mass spectrometry-based metabolomics to investigate the biochemical changes in two species of larval amphibians exposed to atrazine. Our objectives were to 1) Use changes in endogenous metabolites to further our understanding of how atrazine influences biochemical pathways in these non-target species, 2) Determine if fluxes in metabolites caused by atrazine can be used as bimarkers of exposure in american toad (AT; Anaxyrus americanus) and grey tree frog (GTF; Hyla versicolor) larva, and 3) Compare the response of these two species.
