Patterson, C., S. Perry, AND T. Speth. EPA Treatability Database Digs Deep for Data on Drinking Water Contaminants and Treatment Processes. IN: EWRI Currents, Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) of ASCE, Reston, VA, (Spring):8-9, (2015).

Impact/Purpose:

The Drinking Water Treatability Database (TDB) is a publically available resource that presents referenced information on the control of contaminants in drinking water. It allows drinking water utilities, first responders to spills and emergencies, treatment process designers, research organizations, academicians, regulators, and others access to referenced information gathered from thousands of literature sources and assembled on one site.

Description:

The TDB is an interactive database that was initially developed in 2006-2007. The TDB currently contains more than 60 regulated and unregulated contaminants and 28 treatment processes that are known to be effective and are commonly employed at drinking water utilities. TDB literature includes bench-, pilot-, and full-scale studies of surface waters, ground waters and laboratory waters. The literature includes peer-reviewed journals and conference and symposia proceedings, research reports, theses, and dissertations.
