Citation:

Hagler, G. From -40 C to 40 C: Measuring air pollution around the world. JA Leadership Seminar, Hong Kong, CHINA, November 01, 2013.

Impact/Purpose:

This presentation is intended to be provided to high school audience in Hong Kong.

Description:

Abstract. How would you go about studying the air and improving air quality? Did you know that there are instruments recording air pollution levels all over the world, reporting out information that has importance both locally and globally? Did you know that there are diverse teams of researchers studying air pollution while flying over forest fires, trekking in the Arctic, or using advanced computing to interpret satellite data? Understanding the state of our atmosphere and maintaining a healthy environment brings many fields of science and engineering together, including health sciences, physics, chemistry, and environmental engineering, to name a few. This presentation will provide an introduction to air quality and climate and give a glimpse into the exciting career of being an air scientist.
