Applications of NMR-based metabolomics in biological and environmental research

Citation:

Teng, Q. Applications of NMR-based metabolomics in biological and environmental research. Presented at Invited Presentation at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL, February 24 - 26, 2015.

Impact/Purpose:

Invited Presentation at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Description:

As a complimentary tool to other omics platforms, metabolomics is increasingly being used by biologists to study the dynamic response of biological systems (cells, tissues, or whole organisms) under diverse physiological or pathological conditions. Metabolomics deals with the qualitative and quantitative profiling of metabolites or small molecules produced during cellular processes. This technology has found applications in numerous areas of medical, chemical, environmental, pharmaceutical, and biological sciences. In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to NMR spectroscopy and metabolomics, and discuss recent results of our biological and environmental research.
