Description:
Petrochemical wastewaters containing relatively high concentrations of salt and refractory organics were selected to study their feasibility for total recycle. A combination of reverse osmosis and electrodialysis was operated as a hybrid system using the pretreated wastes to produce reusable water and a concentrated brine. The combined electrodialysis-reverse osmosis system is not considered economically feasible when applied to industrial wastewaters containing relatively high concentrations of salt.
