Impact/Purpose:
In response to Homeland Security Presidential Directive 10, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office or Research and Development and the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS) have established coordinated efforts to develop capabilities to respond to incidents involving biological agents. One capability need is for the determination of effective methods for critical infrastructure decontamination, i.e., areas that may contain sensitive equipment or materials and high value items.
