Measuring Spatial Infiltration in Stormwater Control Measures: Results and Implications

Citation:

Brown, R. AND Mike Borst. Measuring Spatial Infiltration in Stormwater Control Measures: Results and Implications. Presented at Kickoff Meeting for EPA-STAR Grantees, Philadelphia, PA, July 24, 2014.

Impact/Purpose:

This presentation will provide background information on research conducted by EPA-ORD on the use of soil moisture sensors in bioretention/bioinfiltration technologies to evaluate infiltration mechanisms and compares monitoring results to simplified modeling assumptions.

Description:

This presentation will provide background information on research conducted by EPA-ORD on the use of soil moisture sensors in bioretention/bioinfiltration technologies to evaluate infiltration mechanisms and compares monitoring results to simplified modeling assumptions. A series of water content reflectometers were installed spatially and with depth in 15 bioretention/bioinfiltration systems in Edison, New Jersey, Louisville, Kentucky, and Dover, New Hampshire.
