Description:
TOXLINE? (TOXicology information onLINE) are the National Library of Medicines extensive collection of online bibliographic information covering the pharmacological, biochemical, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs and other chemicals. TOXLINE and TOXLINE65 together contain more than 4 million citations, almost all with abstracts and/or indexing terms and CAS Registry Numbers. The information in TOXLINE is taken from secondary sources which formulate the subfiles. Citations with publication year 1980 and older are located in the backfiles.

:TOXLINE and TOXLINE65 are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except for a brief daily maintenance period. Registered NLM online services users can access these files via the FTS toll-free number (1-800-525-0216) or the Internet (Telnet directly to medlars.nlm.nih.gov). telnet://b@medlars.nlm.nih.gov/
Citations on a given subject may be retrieved from TOXLINE by entering the desired free text terms as they appear in titles, keywords, and abstracts of articles. In addition, the records in TOXLINE that are taken from MEDLINE? and comprise the Toxicity Bibliography subfile, the more recent BIOSIS subfile records, and the DART? subfile records, may be searched with MeSH? vocabulary. Chemical substances can be searched by entering their corresponding Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) Registry Numbers, and/or synonyms, obtained from the CHEMLINE? file. Searches may be limited to specific publication years. Citations may be SORTed at the users initiation.
