MOVES2014: Brake/Tire Wear Emissions and Temperature Effects Report
Citation:
MOVES2014: Brake/Tire Wear Emissions and Temperature Effects Report. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, D.C.
Impact/Purpose:
The report documents data, assumptions and analyses used to derive PM emission rates for light-duty vehicle brake/tire wear. The report adds new cold start/running emission data for HC, CO, NOx and PM to MOVES, updating MY2004 and later cold temperature vehicle starting and operation emission rates.
Description:
This report documents the sources of data, assumptions and analyses used to derive onroad emission rates for vehicle brake/tire wear PM2.5 and PM10. This update also includes a re-analysis of HC and CO exhaust emissions for “pre-Tier 2”, MY2000 and later, vehicles. New data are incorporated for cold start and running effects for HC, CO and PM exhaust emissions for Tier 2-compliant, MY2004 and later vehicles. The report also updates temperature adjustments due to colder ambient temperature vehicle starting and operation, which are applied to MOVES model cold start/running emissions for criteria pollutants (HC, CO, NOx and PM).
