Description:

The development of organic synthesis under sustainable conditions is a primary goal of practicing green chemists who want to prevent pollution and design safer pathways. Although, it is challenging to avoid the use of catalysts, or solvents in all the organic reactions but progress has been made in recent years to achieve this objective wherein catalyst-free, solvent-free and water-promoted reactions can accomplish the task. In this review, we summarized the activity for the past ten years that pertains to the applications of catalyst-free reactions in aqueous media (“on-water” and “in-water” reactions) and catalyst- and solvent-free reactions promoted by alternative energy input such as mechanochemical, microwave-, or ultrasound irradiation.
