Ammonia Removal from Small Drinking Water Systems

Citation:

Lytle, D. Ammonia Removal from Small Drinking Water Systems. Presented at 9th Annual U.S. EPA Drinking Water Workshop, Cincinnati, OH, September 11 - 13, 2012.

Impact/Purpose:

The information will serve as the basis for the design of biological treatment systems for ammonia control in drinking waters. This will help utilities that inadvertently chloraminate, and those that have nitrification episodes due to naturally occurring ammonia.

Description:

The presentation uses pilot- and field-scale data to support decisions regarding the design and application of biological treatment systems to remove ammonia from water by nitrification.
