Environmental Economics for Watershed Restoration: Valuation for Non-Economists

Citation:

Mebane, S. Environmental Economics for Watershed Restoration: Valuation for Non-Economists. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, EPA/600/F-12/509, 2012.

Impact/Purpose:

The technical fact sheet is intended to inform a technical audience of non-economists of environmental economics tools that can be relevant for their work on projects such as watershed restoration. Ecosystem services researchers may also benefit from the summary of valuation methods.

Description:

EPA economists completed research projects and summarized related valuation methods and case studies, mostly dealing with acid mine drainage. Their recent book (edited by Thurston, et al.) is intended to make stakeholders more comfortable talking about economic jargon and to inform non-economists whose valuation needs may not require expensive economic consultation. The technical fact sheet is a summary of the book.
