Description:

This report describes a series of case studies involving commercial swine, poultry, dairy, and beef CAFO operations where ground water contamination by nitrate and ammonia has occurred to ascertain whether other stressors in CAFO wastes are also being transported through the vadose zone. These stressors include heavy metals and metalloids, microbial indicators for pathogens, veterinary antibiotics, and estrogen hormones, with a particular focus on the estrogen hormones.
