Software Manual

Description:

Recently, a series of 3 papers has been published in the statistical literature that details the use of downscaling to obtain more accurate and precise predictions of air pollution across the conterminous U.S. This downscaling approach combines CMAQ gridded numerical model output with air monitoring data at the point level, yielding improved prediction at the point level. The latest in the series of papers on this topic has been accepted in Biometrics (online version: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1541-0420.2011.01725.x/abstract) and recognizes that there may be useful information in the outputs for CMAQ grid cells that are neighbors of each individual CMAQ cell. To allow easy fitting of this model in a user-friendly environment, MATLAB software has been developed to fit the latest downscaler model. This product includes this software and an associated user's manual to provide instruction on gui inputs needed to fit the model. OAR and other EPA program offices have expressed interest in using this software, allow with many academic partners.
