MetaPath: An Electronic Knowledge Base for Collating, Exchanging and Analyzing Case Studies of Xenobiotic Metabolism. REGULATORY TOXICOLOGY AND PHARMACOLOGY. Elsevier Science Ltd, New York, NY, 63(1):84-96, (2012).

Impact/Purpose:

To document research results.

Description:

A new MetaPath information system was developed through a collaborative effort between the Laboratory of Mathematical Chemistry (Bourgas, Bulgaria), EPA’s Office of Research and Development (NHEERL, MED, Duluth, MN and NERL, ERD, Athens, GA), and EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OPP, Arlington VA). Metabolism data plays a critical role in the risk assessment process. Regulatoryauthorities must manage, document and review large amounts of data on metabolism for pesticide chemicals. The MetaPath system serves to store summary information on pesticide metabolism and environmental degradates that is obtained from the expert reviews of submitted regulatory studies in a structure searchable manner that will increase efficiency of information retrieval in the pesticide program, and allow critical analysis and interpretation of data in a manner currently not possible.
