Description:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development supports the Agency’s mission to protect human health and the environment through its research programs. ORD scientists and engineers lead research efforts designed to be credible, relevant and timely focused on the technical issues supporting EOA policies. The use of biofuels throughout the U.S. has increased and will continue to increase consistent with the administration’s goals. EPA’s ORD has established a multifaceted research effort to ensure that biofuel production and use are consistent with environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Four areas of biofuels research will be discussed: 1) Intramural Integrated Research; 2) Environmental Technology Assessment; 3) Small Business Innovative Research; and 4) National Center for Environmental Research. Each of these areas provides a unique approach to innovative and sustainable production and use of alternative fuels.
