Description:

Resource Purpose:EPA revised its federal regulation. As a result of this revision, State water quality standards are not effective under the CWA until approved by EPA. Previously, they were effective as soon as adopted by the State. Because NPDES permits, 303(d) listing and TMDL development, 305(b) assessments, and other programs are all dependent on knowing the effective WQS, EPA is establishing and will maintain a database of all State, Territory, and authorized Tribe WQS that have been approved.
