Impact/Purpose:
To inform EPA
Description:
Assessments of environmental sustainability can be conducted in many ways with one of the most quantitative methods including Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA). While historically LCIA has included a comprehensive list of impact categories including: ozone depletion, global climate change, acidification, eutrophication, smog formation, human health, and ecotoxicity, more recently LCIA is also incorporating resource uses such as fossil fuel depletion, water depletion, and land use. The presentation will focus on the latest developments in land and water use impact assessment with a specific case study focused on biofuels.
