Impact/Purpose:
Dietary exposures with PFAAs were conducted with juvenile rainbow trout to evaluate the possible estrogenicity of this diverse class of compounds. Using plasma proteins as biomarkers, results indicate certain PFAAs can act as weak estrogens in this fish species.
Description:
The potential estrogenic activity of perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) was determined using separate screening and dose response studies with juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Results of this study indicate that some PFAAs may act as estrogens in fish.
