Using DNA barcode data to uncover cryptic diversity

Impact/Purpose:

We willl use example data sets to show how DNA barcode data can informs tudies of cryptic diversity. These data sets will be examined in both biogeographic and ecological contexts. We then will ilustrate the sue of nuclear markers as a second line of evidence for crypsis.

Description:

The DNA barcode locus (COI) is a useful genetic tool for uncovering cryptic diversity within taxa. These cryptic groups may represent distinct populations, geographic variants, or even species.
