Ground Water Remediation Technologies

Citation:

JEWETT, D. G. Ground Water Remediation Technologies. Presented at the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, CHINA, April 21 - 28, 2010.

Impact/Purpose:

An overview of research conducted at GWERD.

Description:

The USEPA's Ground Water and Ecosystems Restoration Division (GWERD) conducts research and provides technical assistance to support the development of strategies and technologies to protect and restore ground water, surface water, and ecosystems impacted by man-made and natural events. A major component of the GWERD'S research and technical assistance activities is the development and implementation of ground water remediation strategies and technologies. Research focuses on understanding physical, chemical, and biological process that occur in the subsurface, how these processes affect solute fate and transport, and the design and implementation of innovative technologies and strategies for cleaning up contaminated ground water. This is a presentation of GWERD research and technical support efforts related to ground water remediation technologies. This presentation is being presented at a subsurface remediation workshop for the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
