To inform the public.

Description:

The first chemical revolution changed modern life with a host of excellent amenities and services, but created serious problems related to environmental pollution. After 150 years of current chemistry principles and practices, we need a radical change to a new type of chemistry known as ‘Green Chemistry’, which can safeguard human and environmental health. The core principle and concept of ‘Green Chemistry’ is to protect the environment, not by cleaning it up, but by discovery of new chemistry and chemical processes that avert pollution.1-2 It prompts the chemical and pharmaceutical industries to think about the impact on human life and our environment, after these chemicals are produced and introduced into society. We can develop innovative pathways by rethinking chemical design, to create products that stimulate our economy and lifestyles, without the damages to our environment and surroundings. Thus, green chemistry has emerged as a discipline that permeates all aspects of chemistry.
